Sunday School Classes

The Mission of Adult Sunday School at Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church is to glorify God by providing teaching, encouragement, and support to our church family.

Saints Alive Class Each Sunday morning adults can choose from a variety of Sunday School classes. Formats vary from topical studies to systematic Bible studies taught by the pastoral staff and lay teachers. Sunday School begins at 9:00 AM and is followed by Coffee, Cookies, & Conversation at 10:00 and Worship at 10:30.

We invite and encourage you to participate with us in one of our Sunday school classes as we, together, seek to know God through Jesus Christ in a more personal and intimate way.

Cornerstone:The Gospel of Christ in the Old Testament

"Beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself" (Lk 24:27) . Join us as we explore prophecies of Christ in the Old Testament. Only God's progressive revelation can build a story where the end is anticipated from the beginning, and where the guiding principle is not chance or fate, but promise.
Teacher: Ed Wedin; Room 211

Saints Alive: The Hard Commands of Jesus

The teachings of Jesus help us know how to love him and others, but we ignore or refuse to obey many of his commands. In this series, we will explore the directives of Jesus and ask how they should impact our daily lives. Using the Gospels, we will look at the context and original recipient of Jesus' commands. Each participant will get a chance to evaluate his or her own discipleship with Jesus Christ in a non-threatening and encouraging environment.
Teacher: Roger Wernette; Room 214

A Chronological Harmony of the Gospels from a Jewish Perspective

This course is a step-by-step harmony and chronicle of Jesus' ministry, with each event considered from the Jewish perspective and context in which it occurred. It will help you understand the traditions and importance of the Jewish foundations of modern Christianity. While the course builds chronologically, each week's lesson can be studied without having participated in the previous sessions. Special tuition discounts for Gentiles. What's not to like?
Teachers: Larry Bickle and Joe Ince; Room 221

Theology and Life

This class features lectures by well-known theologians and teachers via a DVD presentation, followed by teaching and lively discussion. Weekly handouts are available to aid you in continued study during week. Our current series is R.C. Sproul's God Alone.
Discussion Leader: Dan Tidwell; room 212

Homebuilders: The Story Telling Man – The Parables of Jesus

As you read the gospels it could seem like Jesus loved to speak in riddles. Yet these stories communicate a depth of truth that speaks of God’s love to us and his amazing grace. Join us to discover this amazing grace.
Teacher: Freddie Albaugh; Room 222

907 Class: 2 Timothy (Young Marrieds)

We will study Paul's instructions to his friend, Timothy, on how to live a godly life, as well as the application of Paul’s words to our lives today.
Instructors: Mike Moore and Matt Baker; Room 213

Young Singles: The Psalms

New this semester, the Young Singles class will study the book of Psalms, with the intent of learning to love God in a greater way and to love one another more. If you are young and singles, we invite you to come help us make this new class exciting and relevant.
Teacher: Tyler Groff; Bride's Room

Prayer Class

This class involves some scripture reading, discussion and a great deal of lab work; that is, prayer. If you are a prayer warrior or would like to become one, this class is for you. You may participate on a "drop-in" basis, attending occasionally or regularly, in order to pray with others in our church.
Facilitator: Greg Hickman; Buck Oliphant's Office
