Intervarsity Christian Fellowship | Rice University, Bethany Richter
About the Mission
Intervarsity is an evangelical campus mission serving students and faculty on college and university campuses nationwide. Our vision is to see students and faculty transformed, campuses renewed, and world changers developed.
History
Intervarsity began as a British student movement in the 1870s and now reaches college students around the world under the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students. Historically, Rice University has had a strong and thriving InterVarsity Chapter, however over the past five to ten years it began to dwindle. Bethany Richter came to replant a fellowship at Rice in the fall of 2009 and is seeking to grow the presence of a witnessing community on that campus!
Vision
Our vision is to see students and faculty transformed, campuses renewed and world changers developed. At Rice we desire to see a fellowship of students who are being transformed by the Gospel and seeking to see their campus renewed and transformed as well.
Mission
Our mission is to equip student leaders to be empowered ministers of the Gospel and witnesses to their peers on campus.
2012 Goals
- See three students make decisions of faith, and to have seven student leaders who are growing in their relationship with God and taking evangelistic risks on campus.
Please pray for:
- Our current student leaders and our vision of first being transformed and then bringing transformation to our campus;
- The replant to take root and be anchored in the assurance of our faith;
- Grace as students take big risks in speaking up about their faith to their peers and professors.
